Frequently asked questions
Everything about learning with Visual German, Premium and your account.
Getting started
Who is Visual German for?+
For anyone learning German for everyday life: newcomers to Germany, students, job seekers and people preparing for exams. The course goes from A1 (complete beginner) to C2.
Do I need to know any German?+
No. Start at A1. Every word comes with its article (der, die, das), audio, an example sentence and an English or Bangla translation.
Which languages can I use?+
The website works in English, Bangla and German. You can choose English, Bangla or both for word translations under Account → Translations.
How do I find my level?+
When you sign up, a short placement check suggests a level. You can change it at any time.
Do I need an app?+
No. Visual German runs in the browser on phones, tablets and computers. You need an internet connection.
Learning
How does learning with pictures work?+
Each chapter is a picture of a real place. Tap objects to learn the words, read the story, then find the objects again from memory. Words you miss come back in the review at the right time.
What else is there besides scenes?+
Small talk dialogues with audio, grammar lessons with exercises, guides to life in Germany, journeys with missions, a word dictionary with topic lists and murder-mystery cases in German.
Does it prepare me for Goethe, telc or ÖSD exams?+
The course follows the CEFR levels used by these exams and trains the everyday vocabulary and grammar they test. For each level there is a full practice exam (listening, reading, words and grammar, writing – 50 marks). We are not linked to any exam provider.
Do I get a certificate?+
Yes. Pass a level exam with at least 30 of 50 marks and you get a Visual German certificate with your name, level, score and a check code. It shows your practice result – it is not an official language certificate like Goethe, telc or ÖSD. The A1 exam is free; A2 to C2 are part of Premium.
Are the contents checked?+
Yes. Some pictures and texts are made with AI help, and we review and fix them. If you find a mistake, use “Report a problem” on the page.
